We started in 1952 when Mr. Schwab bought an OK Rubber Welders tire store located in Central Oregon. From these humble beginnings, the company has grown to nearly 400 store locations, making it the largest independent tire company in the West, and one of the largest in the nation.
Les Schwab did not reach this level of success without the hard work and dedication of its employees. Mr. Schwab often reminds the company of the importance of each employee, stating “the strength of Les Schwab comes from great employees and great customers. Les Schwab is a promote-from-within company, so each store manager and assistant manager started their career as an hourly employee. Employees interested in management must develop the skills and expertise in the Sales and Service position, as all promotions to management come from this position. This is necessary because our managers are responsible for training employees on tire installation, safety procedures, tire applications and many other important aspects of operating a tire center.
